Living Abroad

I was born in the United States in 1972, and grew up near a beautiful beach in New York. When I was 15 my high school Guidance Counselor trained me to work with students as a peer counselor, a voluntary role I took on for two years. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Education (Cum Laude), I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and began my career in Human Resources and Recruitment at Deloitte (a global professional services firm). I worked at Deloitte for seven years, in HQ roles supporting offices across the United States and Europe. In 1998 the firm offered me the opportunity to relocate to The Netherlands as an expat. I assimilated fairly quickly and made The Netherlands my home.

In 2004 I joined The Rotterdam School of Management as Director of the MBA Career Development office. I served in this role for five years. My role at this prestigious business school (# 25 in the 2010 Global MBA Financial Times ranking) offered me the opportunity to coach and train executives and MBA students from over 50 countries world-wide. Most of my work at the business school was focused on career and leadership development. In 2012 I joined Microsoft’s Global Learning & Development team, and had the opportunity to travel to Microsoft offices in 22 countries- what a fantastic experience!

Cultural Curiousity

In addition to helping people make positive, purposeful change, I enjoy working with internationally-minded people and learning about different cultures. This is one reason why I made The Netherlands my home. Another is the proximity to other countries with significant cultural differences.

I love going to new places, learning about the local culture, meeting the local people, tasting their food, understanding what their life is like, what drives them, and what it is like to do business there.

This “cultural curiosity” drives my personal life and career choices, and has matured to deep cross-cultural awareness.

I travel frequently, and have visited Austria, Bermuda, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Monaco, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saint Martin, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey and Wales. My family (including 3 children) also enjoys traveling and often joins me on these trips.
